If it's not one thing, it's another

*phew* This has been an up-and-down past few days. After procrastinating for years, I finally broke down and got an HDTV this past weekend. Erin commented that the next thing ya know, I'll be getting a cell phone (but I'm not holding my breathe for that one either).

We get the new TV home and everything is great, but then we realize that we need HDMI cables to hook everything hither & thither. Amazon's got 'em for $4 fer a 6-footer... les go get one at Target. A single 3' HDMI cable at Target ran us $17. WTF?!? (and that doesn't mean Wed-Thurs-Fri). We decide we're going to make do with a single cable and just swap around when we're going to watch one of the two Blu-rays we also purchased. For those of you wondering, Star Trek and Half-Blood Prince.

Sunday, after returning home from the grocery store, we begin to notice that nothing will connect to the internet. Another WTF moment or two passes before we figure out that it's not the internet service at all, but the wireless router which is alternating between ALL LIGHTS ON and completely turned off, about twice a second. :-( So I putter with the other router we had setup as a wireless bridge in the living room, reset a thing or two, change some settings and Bazinga! We've got ourselves another wireless router setup.

I hop over to the living room and realize, I've got a bunch of stuff in there that wants ethernet connections... and needs HDMI cables... and my Wii, oh yeah, I gave that component cable I couldn't use away so I better buy a new one. One big order to Amazon.com later and here we are today. The delivery guy delivered my new router to the door. HDMI cables should be here in the next day or three, as should the Wii cable, and I'm becoming happier and happier.

So through the course of the evening, I'm getting the new router up and running as a wireless bridge for the xbox & the tv & the blu-ray player, and the digital cable is stuttering like a bunch of bad actors in a Lifetime movie about an special needs Olympic soccer team. ARGH!!! I think it's time for test #2 to see if my stomach is back in order.

Ohh yeah, so I stayed home from work on Monday & Tuesday (and only went in part of the day today to catch up the state of things) because I caught some sort of HDTV flu. This isn't the fun type of 'oh-I-got-a-new-toy-so-I'm-*cough*-*cough*-sick-now' illness. This is one of those 'every-solid-substance-in-the-digestive-system-liquefies-and-evacuates-IMMEDIATELY' illnesses. I managed to keep half a bowl of soup in my system for around 45 minutes on Monday evening, and I was actually glad to wake up from a nap in a puddle of sweat and not because of ... uhm... let's just call it 'urgent evac problems'. So I'm home from work Monday and Tuesday the weekend after I get my new fancy-schmancy HDTV and I can barely even enjoy the flippin' thing! I spent more time in the restroom than I did watching TV!

The living room is a mess. Cables and crap everywhere. Components and shelves are strewn about. We've got a massive 53" rear projection behemoth in the guest bedroom that needs to find a more suitable home (anyone want a TV for cheap or maybe free).

See! The reason I don't write in this blog anymore is because I ramble and overshare. Thanks. THANKS A BUNCH! *geez* It's all yer fault...
